That protein bar you’re eating. Have you read the nutrition facts? No, not just the calories and fat grams. Have you REALLY looked at the ingredients to get an idea of what you’re actually putting into your body? Complex chemicals make their way into ingredient lists every day…I mean, come on! Who’s trying to fool who here? Make it taste good and we’ll eat it, duh. But we really need to start paying attention to our food. I mean, what’s really in your food?
Doesn’t it creep you out that some foods don’t need to be in the refrigerator (like dipping cheese for those tortilla chips in the snack aisle) but you know they should be? The amount of preservatives in these types of foods probably have enough chemicals to clean your kitchen floor. Yuck! Next time a craving hits you for something sweet or salty, aim for foods that will actually nourish your body. Let’s take a look at your common preservatives, some of which may actually be ok for your body:
Pay CLOSE Attention
You’re nosy about your neighbor and your childhood enemy on Facebook so why aren’t you the same way about your food? Do this. Go to your kitchen and grab your bread. Does the plastic on the outside say Whole Grain or 100% Whole Grain? If it says Whole Grain, then GIRL, you need to get your #carblife together.
Don’t be fooled by these labels. Really get to know what each one means for a better nutrition.
Next time you pick up something to eat or go grocery shopping, remember one thing: knowledge is power. I mean, if you buy something, leave it in your pantry, and see it again 4 months later and it looks brand new, that’s probably a sign that it’s FILLED with preservatives. Get those toxins out of your life and clean your body inside and out with nutritious foods. The less they last, the better for you they are!
